I’d like to tell you about Wales. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. It consists of four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Wales is primarily an agricultural country. There aren’t many big cities in Wales. The capital of the country is Cardiff. There are two official languages in Wales - Welsh and English, both of which are taught in schools. The symbols of the country are leeks and daffodils. St. David is the patron saint of Wales. The country has its own national game called rugby. Wales is the land of castles. The biggest castle, Conwy, built by English king, Edward I in 13th century, is in North Wales. People call Wales the land of song. Traditional folk music is very important in the country and people sing traditional songs and play instruments such as the harp. Every August in Wales people celebrate the National Eisteddfod which is the national festival of music, literature and poetry. The festival is eight days long and people speak only Welsh. That’s all I’d like to tell you about Wales.
