I’d like to tell you about Great Britain. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. It consists of four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The capital of the country is London. The official head of the state at the moment is Queen Elizabeth II. She is also the monarch of many other states in the world. The official language of the country is English. Every part of Great Britain has got its symbol and patron. Saint George is the patron saint of England and the flower of England is the rose. Scotland’s patron saint is Saint Andrew and the symbol is the thistle. The patron saint of Wales is Saint David and Welsh symbol is daffodil. Union Jack is the name of British flag. The flag is the symbol of unity. It is a combination of saints’ patrons flags. There are many different types of food from different parts of Britain. For example Bara brith is a sweet bread with raisins from Wales. That’s all I’d like to tell you about Great Britain.
